The Prayer Of Mary
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour
for he has looked with favour on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him
in every generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm,
he has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel
for he remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children forever.
(Lk 1:46-55)
The month of May is a special time for us to honour Mary. By her own free will Mary agreed to bring our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ into the world. Her life was one of service and great devotion to Jesus, from the cave in Bethlehem where she gave birth to Him, to Calvary in Jerusalem where she stood by His cross in the Crucifixion. We are challenged to follow her example of humility, obedience, and service to God.
McCormack Feast Day
Sr Irene was a teacher, school principal and missionary who dedicated her life to serving the people of Western Australia and the poor and marginalised people in Peru. She lived a life of Prayer, Service and Justice, the three precepts of our College motto. Sr Irene was martyred in Huasahuasi, Peru, in 1991, by members of Sendero Luminoso, a Maoist rebel terrorist organisation. At the time, she was providing Caritas food parcels and educational services to the families of the town. Our College serves to both honour her life and legacy, as well as inspire a new generation of missionaries who will adopt the mantra of St Mary MacKillop: “Never see a need without doing something about it.”
McCormack House students gathered to celebrate the life legacy of Sr Irene McCormack. This included Mass and a pizza lunch. Thanks to Deputy Principal – Mr Bateman, Ms Murphy and Mrs Chamberlain – our McCormack House Representatives, for their organisation of the day.
CPSSA Swimming Carnival
Congratulations to the Junior School Swim Squad who participated in at the inter-school swimming carnival today. I appreciate the efforts you have made with attending early morning swimming training. The College came 5th overall, with the girls coming in 2nd. A huge thank you to Mr Kerr, Coordinator of Sport and HPE staff for training our squad.
HASS Week
Thank you to Ms Taylor, Learning Area Leader for HASS and staff for all the activities offered this week. The week finished with an Aboriginal dance group performance for some of our students.

The Freo Dockers Cup has been a great success with the College hosting the last two events. The next and final event is to be held at Carine Senior High School on 7 May 2024. Thank you to Mr Hinder for this initiative and to all staff involved with the coaching and to those who were able to watch.
ACC Inclusive Sports – MultiSports
It was wonderful to see our students competing in the Multisport day at Floreat today. Thanks to Ms Hayes and the Learning Enrichment team who organised the day.
