Prayer for the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ (Previously Christ the King)

Lord our God, You alone are the Most Holy King and Ruler of all nations. We pray to You, Lord, in the great expectation of receiving from You, O Divine King, mercy, peace, justice and all good things. Protect, O Lord our families and the land of our birth.

Amen

I am delighted to share with you the highlights of the past fortnight, which has been filled with remarkable events and achievements.

Colour Run Success

Last week’s Colour Run was a tremendous success, raising over $23,000! This incredible achievement would not have been possible without the dedication and enthusiasm of our parent volunteers and the Friends of Holy Cross team. Your efforts made the event enjoyable for everyone involved. I must admit, I still find bits of yellow slime in my hair, and I look forward to watching someone else get slimmed next year!

Art Showcase

In Week 6, we hosted a vibrant Art Showcase that exhibited the incredible artistic talents of our students from Pre-Primary to Year 12. Visual Art, Media, Drama, Dance and Music were on display throughout the week. It was a wonderful celebration, with all four nights being well attended by families and community members. We extend our thanks to the parents and caregivers for their unwavering support, which enables their children to engage fully in our holistic educational experiences through the enrichment pillar.

Building Connections

Our Junior School Move Up Day, Kindy 2025 Orientation sessions, and Year 7 2025 Orientation Day were all resounding successes. These events are vital in fostering connections within our community, one of our core values at Holy Cross College. It was wonderful to see new friendships forming and a sense of belonging growing among our students and families.

Year 9 Transition Mass and Challenge Day

This week, our Year 9 students participated in the Transition Mass and Challenge Day with outstanding enthusiasm and commitment. These events are designed to challenge our middle school students to reflect on their journey of transformation at HCC and to inspire them to continue striving for their personal best as they move into Senior School.

Staffing Update

It is with mixed emotions that I announce the departure of Deputy Principal Mr. Simon Falcone at the conclusion of 2024. Mr. Falcone has been successful in his application for the position of Deputy Principal at St John Paul College in Kalgoorlie. His contributions to our community have been invaluable, and he has left a lasting legacy of service and stewardship. He will be greatly missed, and we wish him all the best in his new role.

Gospel Challenge

This Sunday is the Solemnity of  Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe.

The reading from the Gospel of John is the only time in the scriptures that Jesus confirms that He is a King.

The challenge for our students this week is to worship Jesus as the good, eternal king.

Thank you all for your continued support and dedication to our community. Together, we are making Holy Cross College a place of connection, growth, and excellence.

Kind regards

Albert Borrello
