End of Semester One

Community Prayer for the End of Term

Heavenly Father, you gather us together in our faith journey

Trusting in you, we join one another as a community

A community of faith on a journey

A journey to grow ever deeper in our faith…In our Love…

In our Desire to long for you…

Along the way, remind us of your Love

Of your sacrifice for us

Of your ever mindful presence

Let us never lose hope along the way

Help us to be strong…Strong in Faith…Strong in Love…

Strong in our Desire to be ever mindful of your presence

For it is in your strength and Love and the Graces you bestow upon us, that we can go out and share in your Love and Faith with all those in our community.

It is in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord who lives and reins with you and the Holy Spirit one God For ever and ever

Amen

As we come to the end of yet another term, it fills me with great pleasure to recognise and commend the achievements and diligence of our students. Congratulations to our LIFE award recipients at today’s assembly. Your dedication to your education and your hard work are truly commendable, and we celebrate and acknowledge your endeavours.

Let us take a moment to contemplate the legacy of Dom Salvado, our House Patron for 2024. Dom Rosendo Salvado (1814 – 1900), a Spanish Benedictine monk, missionary, bishop, and the founder of the Abbey of New Norcia, embodies values we hold close. Next term, our year 12 students conclude their journey of the Salvado Camino, at his tomb, marking the near end of their time at our College. Dom Salvado’s reverence for the land and its people resonates with us, and we honour his spirit of community building and stewardship.

In our own vibrant community, I extend my gratitude to our teachers. Your commitment to our students and beyond is greatly appreciated. Your passion for nurturing young minds and fostering growth is commendable, and your individual efforts have undoubtedly left an important mark on our students’ lives.

I extend sincere thanks to our Education Assistants for their invaluable support and patience in creating nurturing learning environments where every student has the chance to flourish. Your dedication plays a pivotal role in our students’ journey of growth and development.

To our diligent grounds staff, your meticulous care ensures that our campus remains a beautiful place for learning. Your hard work guarantees that our facilities are always in top-notch condition, and for that, we are immensely grateful.

To the dedicated members of our Library, Technicians, IT and Administration teams, your contributions ensure the seamless operation of our school, providing essential resources for, and access to, teaching and learning. Thank you for your hard work and collegiality, this semester.

To our Café staff, your warm service and food preparation are at the heart of our community. Your efforts are deeply appreciated, and I know there are days where you have to go above and beyond.

Our Leadership teams continually strives for school improvement, fostering a culture of learning and teaching that enables our students to thrive. Thank you for your dedication to our collective growth.

Students, surrounded by such dedicated teams, you are positioned for success. Your commitment to your studies and active participation in various activities lay the foundation for your future achievements. Hard work does not go unnoticed, so embrace every opportunity.

Thank you to our Parents for your partnership, support and participation throughout the term. We appreciate the collaboration in the best interests of your child/ren. It is important that we work together to ensure the best outcomes for our students.

Our recent social justice immersion program with our senior students, and the LIFE Link sleep out, exemplifies our commitment to forming compassionate global citizens. Your dedication to equity and your empathy is truly inspiring. These experiences can be life changing in how we view our world.

Lastly, our extracurricular activities, events, carnivals, retreats and camps have enriched the lives of our students, nurturing talents, building resilience, and forging lasting bonds. Thank you to the staff who make this all possible.

I wish our Deputy Principal, Mr Murphy, the very best as he moves to a Deputy position at a new school. Mr Murphy was instrumental in the design of the MyLIFE senior program and has been so supportive of leading some of the changes we have been implementing over the last few years.

Next semester, I transition into a new short-term role as School Improvement Advisor for the office of CEWA.  I congratulate, Mr. Borrello, who will assume the role of Principal for the remainder of the year. I look forward to hearing about all of the progress for next semester.

My final wish for all, in the words of our College Patron, Oscar Romero:

“May each of you be concerned to develop the great capacity for love that results in respect for one’s own dignity. What can flow from proper self-dignity and self-love, is a respect and love for others. In this capacity for love, we are not on our own, for we have received this love from God.”

I wish each and every one of you a safe and rejuvenating holiday season with your loved ones. May it be a time of reflection and renewal as you prepare for the opportunities that await in Term Three.
