Principal’s Blog: Celebrating Our Values
Dear Holy Cross College Community,
As we move through the first term of 2025, I am filled with pride and gratitude for the incredible efforts and achievements of our students and staff. The values of Dignity, Personal Best, Compassion, Connection, Stewardship, and Service have been beautifully exemplified over the past fortnight. Here are some highlights:
Dignity: Last Friday, our students participated in the ACC Inclusive Soccer Carnival with remarkable spirit and sportsmanship. Making it to the Grand Final was a testament to their hard work and dedication. More importantly, they upheld the dignity of all participants, supporting each other and their competitors with respect and kindness.
Personal Best: Maths Week was a resounding success! Our Maths team organized a series of engaging activities that brought mathematics to life. Students and staff alike were engrossed in the challenges, demonstrating their commitment to achieving their personal best. Additionally, our ACC Swim Carnival saw a fantastic turnout. Our swim squad’s dedication to training paid off, and we look forward to seeing continued improvement in future competitions.
Compassion: This year’s Project Compassion theme is “For All Future Generations.” Our students have embraced this theme wholeheartedly, participating in various fundraisers such as the Easter Egg Hunt and Guess the Eggs in the Jar. With Crazy Sock Days, Mini Markets, and Raffles on the horizon, our College is truly living out our value of compassion.
Connection: Harmony Day 2025 was a vibrant celebration of our diverse community. Embracing the theme “Everyone Belongs,” we hosted Poster Competitions, enjoyed Multicultural Food at the Café, and created a Celebration Tree with leaves representing the cultures of our students, staff, and parents. The Flag Drawings in our San Salvador Undercroft and Traditional Clothing Day on Friday further highlighted our unity and connection.
Stewardship: Our student leaders took the initiative to coordinate a Clean Up Australia competition during lunch on Friday of Week 6. This fantastic effort demonstrated our collective commitment to stewardship of creation, aligning with Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’.
Service: On Saturday, March 15, over 70 student volunteers showcased their dedication and pride in our College during our Open Day. With over 300 guests in attendance, our students’ service was truly humbling. Their enthusiasm and pride in Holy Cross College were evident, and it is no surprise that enrolments remain strong and demand continues to grow.
It has been a terrific start to 2025, and we look forward to continuing our positive momentum into the final three weeks of the term. Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to our College values.
Warm regards,
Mr. Albert Borrello
Principal, Holy Cross College
