Prayer – Jubilee 2025
Spirit of God, renew our hearts with justice and hope.
Father may your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. Give us fresh hope to start all over again in this year of Jubilee, as we reach out with healing hands and rejoicing hearts, sowing seeds of truth and love that grow and bear fruit in our classrooms and our workplace.
We stand together before you in the name of Jesus.
Amen.
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Welcome Back!
Welcome back to another exciting school year at Holy Cross College! It has been a terrific first week back with our students, filled with energy, enthusiasm, and a sense of community.
I would like to extend a warm welcome to all our families, especially new families joining us this year Your attention to detail in preparing the children for their return to the College is greatly appreciated. There is a lot to take in as caregivers and we appreciate your support.
2025 House Focus & Jubilee 2025
This year, our focus will be on our house patron, Sr Irene McCormack, and our College values of Justice and Service. We are committed to instilling these values in our students and fostering a community that embodies them in every aspect of College life.
2025 is a special year for the Catholic Church as it is a Jubilee year, an event that occurs once every 25 years. As a College, we look forward to embracing the Jubilee message of “Pilgrims of Hope” and incorporating it into our activities and reflections throughout the year.
Year 12 Ball
The Year 12 Ball was an incredible night for the Graduating Class of 2025. It was wonderful to see our students (and some staff) dance the night away and enjoy one of our College’s significant rites of passage.
Our Year 12 students do look magnificent in their new College Blazers, with many defying the 40 degree heat to proudly display their new outfit.
2025 Inter-relationships Leaders
I am pleased to announce our Inter-relationship Leaders (IRLs) for 2025:
- Year 7: Mr. Chris Spencer
- Year 8: Mrs. Melissa Gregory
- Year 9: Ms. Lisa Walton
- Year 10: Mr. John Dautopulos
- Year 11: Ms. Jodie Reynolds
- Year 12: Ms. Ashton White
We are confident that these leaders will guide and support our students effectively throughout the year.
Welcome BBQ – Kindy to Year 12 Families
A reminder to all parents that our Welcome BBQ is this Wednesday, 12 February. There will be a free sausage sizzle, and it will be a wonderful opportunity to connect with other families and staff members.
Congratulations!
Lastly, I would like to congratulate Mrs. Ellie Luzuk, our Junior School Art Teacher, who welcomed her second child, Grace Noelle, into the world over the break. Both mum and bub are doing well!
Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to a fantastic year ahead.
Gospel Challenge
In this week’s Gospel from Luke, we hear of some fisherman following the instructions of Jesus and are amazed by what happens! These fishermen become the first disciples of Jesus.
Our challenge this week is inspired from the book of Deuteronomy 5:33 – “Follow the instructions that the Lord has given you. Then you will live long and be successful”.
Have a great weekend!
Kind regards
Albert Borrello
