Anzac Day Prayer

Remember, O Lord, all those the brave and the true,

who have died the death of honour and are departed in the hope of the resurrection to eternal life.

In that place of light from which sorrow and mourning are far banished, give them rest, O Lord, thou lover of men. And grant to us who remain the spirit of service which may make us worthy of their sacrifice.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Our ANZAC Day liturgy took place this morning.

Anzac Day, 25 April, is one of Australia’s most important national occasions. It marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War.

During the 1920s ANZAC Day became established as a national day of commemoration for the more than 60,000 Australians who had died during the war. Now ANZAC Day also serves to commemorate the lives of Australians who died in the Second World War, and the meaning of the day has been further broadened to include those who lost their lives in all the military and peacekeeping operations in which Australia has been involved.

Thank you to Deputy – Faith, Daniel Bateman, for organising the liturgy as well as Kerri Sloper, Colleen Azzopardi, our grounds and maintenance team, College Captains – Angelique  Pugliese-Thompson and Bradley Fisher, Luke Chappell, our readers, and all who helped in some way. A special acknowledgment to Orilee Ryan, who shared the experiences of her father and struck a chord with us all. Our students were so respectful of what ANZAC Day means. We appreciated all of your efforts.

Blazers

Thank you for your support with the College blazers. The colder weather will soon be upon us, and the wearing of the blazers will certainly be appreciated by the students, and they look so good too.

K-12 Community

We have had a positive start to the term! There is always so much to benefit from in a PK-12 educational environment.

1. Consistency and Continuity: Students can experience a consistent learning environment from Kindergarten through to Secondary graduation, which can contribute to their academic and social development.
2. Comprehensive Curriculum: We offer a comprehensive curriculum that covers a wide range of subjects and learning areas, including core academic subjects, arts, physical education, and extracurricular activities.
3. Developmentally Appropriate Learning: Our teaching methods and curriculum are designed to meet the developmental needs of students at different stages of their education. This ensures that learning activities are age-appropriate and aligned with students’ cognitive, emotional, and social development.
4. Long-Term Relationships: Students have the opportunity to form long-term relationships with teachers, classmates, and other school staff members over the course of their K-12 education. These relationships can provide support, mentorship, and a sense of belonging throughout their academic journey.
5. Holistic Development: K-12 schools focus not only on academic achievement but also on fostering students’ holistic development, including their social-emotional skills, critical thinking abilities, creativity, and character development.
6. Personalised Support: Teachers and school staff can provide personalised support and intervention for students who may need additional help or enrichment opportunities.
7. Preparation for Higher Education and Careers: We aim to prepare students for success in higher education and future careers by providing a solid foundation of knowledge, skills, and competencies. We offer career exploration opportunities, and guidance on post-secondary options.
8. Community Engagement: We sometimes serve as hubs of community engagement, bringing together students, families, educators, and community members to collaborate on educational initiatives, cultural events, and civic activities.
9. Safety and Well-Being: We prioritise the safety and well-being of their students, providing a secure and supportive environment where students can learn and thrive.
10. Opportunities for Extracurricular Involvement: We offer a range of extracurricular activities, clubs, and sports teams that allow students to explore their interests, develop talents, and build leadership skills outside of the classroom.
11. Resources: Students are able to use and share resources, equipment and staff expertise across the year levels.
12. A sense of Belonging – Our Junior School students are a part of the events, assemblies and rituals across K-12. They feel more confident, knowing what experiences and common practices are coming, as well as knowing the school environment and culture.  

Overall, a K-12 education provides a foundation for lifelong learning, personal growth, and success in both academic and non-academic pursuits. Students are provided with the opportunity to be a part of a connected community that aims to form visionary young people, who embrace their changing world in the spirit of the risen Christ.

Look out for our OPEN DAY, on Saturday 11 May 2024, commencing at 10am.

Students will return to school on Monday 29 April, as staff will be involved in Professional Development this Friday. Friday 26 April will be a pupil free day.
