From The PrincipalAcademic Achievements of the Graduating Class of 2016
I would like to acknowledge the outstanding results of our Graduating Class of 2016. The Median ATAR for the College was 88.3 (State Median ATAR –80.85). 87% of students achieved an ATAR score above 80, 40% of eligible students achieved an ATAR above 90. This has given these students excellent opportunities for university studies and 92% of students have received an offer for their first choice of course. 100% of students studying a General course earned either a Certificate IV, Certificate III or a Certificate Il, meaning they have finished school with an additional Vocational qualification. I congratulate the Class of 2016 for their excellent results and wish them well for the next stage of their journey.
This is the second year of excellent graduation results for the Year 12 students of Holy Cross College. I extend my congratulations to James Evans, who was the recipient of a General Exhibition for his outstanding achievement of being placed 26th in the State and who achieved an ATAR score of 99.85. General Exhibitions are awarded to the 41 eligible students with the highest School Curriculum and Standards Authority WACE award scores based on the average of five scaled scores with at least two from each of the humanities/social sciences list and the mathematics/science list. James was also awarded a Certificate of Distinction for being in the top 0.5% of candidates in Physics and a Certificate of Commendation for achieving at least 20 A grades. He will receive his awards at a ceremony at Government House in February. This is a wonderful achievement for James, who was the College Dux in 2015 and a foundation student, commencing at Holy Cross in its opening year in 2010.
Cameron Miles, Runner-up Dux, also achieved outstanding result with an ATAR of 98.65. Overall the Class of 2015 did very well. 100% of students achieved WACE Graduation. 60% of eligible students achieved an ATAR above 80 and all eligible students achieved an ATAR above 70. This gave all ATAR students access to university places. The median ATAR for the College was 83.4 compared to a State median ATAR of 79.1.
Holy Cross College was recognised by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority as one of the top performing schools in the state in English and Religion and Life.
Opening initially with students in Years 7 - 8, the College now provides education for students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 in Junior, Middle and Senior School. The Pre-Kindergarten programme caters for children who have turned 3 years of age up to entry age into Kindergarten.
Having previously spent eight years as Principal of a Pre-K to Year 12 College, I have seen the benefits of the provision of a holistic curriculum which caters for all stages of learning on one campus. I am delighted that Holy Cross College will have the opportunity to offer families an opportunity to develop a strong relationship with us in an educational partnership which begins in the early years of learning and continues through to the time when students graduate from the College as young adults.
Our College Open Day is Wednesday 22 March for prospective families to view Holy Cross College. Please book to attend via the College Office email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 9297 7600. I look forward to welcoming you to Holy Cross College.
